Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.3.3.LI.2 - Analyse the role of the judiciary in overseeing administrative actions of the government and providing avenues for redress

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Explain the constitutional basis for the judiciary’s power to review administrative actions of the government in Ghana.
  2. Describe at least five judicial remedies available to citizens whose rights have been infringed upon by administrative bodies.
  3. Analyse a case scenario and identify the appropriate judicial remedy for the violation described.
  4. Discuss the conditions that must be met before a citizen can apply for a judicial remedy.
  5. Assess the limitations of the legal framework in Ghana and propose practical ways of improving access to justice for ordinary citizens.
