Learning Objectives
Indicator: 1.2.1.LI.1 - Review knowledge and understanding of the tools of literary analyses, e.g., elements of prose
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define the six core elements of prose (plot, character, setting, theme, point of view, and language/style) using their own words.
- Identify each element of prose in a given excerpt from a short story or novel.
- Explain how two or more elements work together to create meaning in a prose text.
- Present a group analysis of a prose excerpt, using accurate literary terms, to the rest of the class.
- Reflect on how their personal reading experiences connect to the elements of prose studied in earlier weeks.
