Learning Objectives
Indicator: 1.3.1.LI.2 - Identify and explain the significance of the plot
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define plot and identify the five main parts of a dramatic plot structure (exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution).
- Sequence the events of a familiar Ghanaian film or drama series into the correct plot structure.
- Explain how each part of the plot contributes to the development of the narrative and the overall meaning of a dramatic text.
- Analyse how a change in one plot event would alter the meaning of a dramatic text.
- Use academic language (e.g., “exposition”, “climax”, “resolution”) respectfully when discussing plot with peers in mixed-ability groups.

Experiential Learning: - Learners watch a popular film. In groups (mixed ability/gender) examine the structure of a plot using the film watched and how it contributes to the development of the narrative. - Learners work in groups to develop skills of collaboration where they learn to understand others and be sensitive to their needs as teammates. - Again, they will communicate using academic language ethically to avoid hurting the sensitivities of others.
