Learning Objectives

Indicator: K2.4.2.1.1 - Talk about and discuss the various occupations in our community.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  • Name at least five occupations found in their community from pictures and discussion.
  • Explain in simple sentences what one or two community workers do in their jobs.
  • Match a community worker to the tool or object they use in their work.
  • Express their own preferred or aspired occupation and give one reason for their choice.
  • Follow the basic procedures of community circle time: sit properly, look at the speaker, raise a hand to contribute, and take turns to talk.

Community Circle time: Follow basic procedures of the community circle time (as in K2.1.1.1.1) and introduce the theme for the week. Display a conversational poster (#30) and some concrete materials related to the theme and engage learners in active discussion. Call on learners randomly to answer questions or contribute to the discussion. Have learners mention some occupations in their vicinity.
