Learning Objectives

Indicator: K1.4.1.1.5 - Colour nicely a scene from the community and label it.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  • Talk about one special place in the community they have visited or seen in pictures
  • Draw a simple scene showing a special place from the community
  • Colour the scene neatly, staying within the lines as much as possible
  • Label the scene using their own invented spelling (e.g., writing “hospl” for hospital or “mkit” for market)
  • Explain their picture to a friend, telling what place they drew and why they chose it
  • Paste the finished picture in the classroom as part of a community gallery
