Learning Objectives

Indicator: B5.4.6.2.3 - Dire pourquoi on accepte ou on refuse une invitation.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. State at least two reasons for accepting an invitation using the structure “J’accepte car…” (e.g., J’accepte car je suis libre samedi).
  2. State at least two reasons for refusing an invitation using the structures “Je ne peux pas parce que…” or “Désolé mais…” (e.g., Je ne peux pas parce que je suis malade).
  3. Use at least three vocabulary items related to reasons for accepting or refusing (libre, occupé, malade, voyage, devoirs).
  4. Respond appropriately to an invitation with a complete sentence giving a reason, in a short role-play with a partner.
  5. Differentiate between a polite acceptance and a polite refusal by identifying the key phrases used in each.
