Inviter quelqu'un et accepter une invitation

Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: B4.4.6.3.1 - Lire et comprendre une lettre ou une carte d’invitation

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Read aloud a simple invitation card or letter in French with correct pronunciation.
  2. Identify the key elements of an invitation: who is invited, what event, when, where, and from whom.
  3. Respond to simple comprehension questions about an invitation card or letter in French.
  4. Match key invitation phrases (inviter, accepter, refuser) to their meanings in English.
  5. Distinguish between a formal and an informal invitation based on the language used.

This lesson builds on listening comprehension of invitations (B4.4.6.1.1) and telephone invitations (B4.4.6.2.1) from Week 5. It focuses on reading and understanding invitations only. Writing invitations (B4.4.6.4.1) comes in Week 7, so learners will read but not yet write their own invitations.
