Learning Objectives

Indicator: B8.2.2.1.2 - Demonstrate how to add a drawing canvas, shapes, and also edit, format and add text to shapes.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  • Add a drawing canvas to a PowerPoint slide using the Insert tab.
  • Insert at least three different shapes from the Shapes gallery onto a drawing canvas.
  • Add text to a shape and edit the text content.
  • Format a shape by changing its fill colour, outline colour and applying a shape style or effect.
  • Explain the purpose of the drawing canvas, specifically how it helps group and move shapes together as one unit.

Note: Text formatting of shapes (font, size, bold, etc.) belongs to Term 2, Week 3. This lesson focuses on inserting, editing and formatting shapes and their text, not on arranging or layering shapes.
