By the end of the lesson, learners can:

State the difference between a formula and a function in a spreadsheet.
Identify the parts of a function, including the equal sign, function name and arguments.
Use built-in functions such as SUM, AVERAGE, COUNT, COUNTA, COUNTIF, MAX and MIN to perform operations on sample data.
Select the appropriate function for a given data-handling problem.
Enter a function manually and through the Function Wizard or built-in function dialogue box.
