By the end of the lesson, learners can:

State the year (1957) when the name Gold Coast was formally changed to Ghana.
Recall at least two events that led to the change of name from Gold Coast to Ghana.
Explain briefly the role of Parliament and Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in the change of name.
Dramatise a short scene showing how Parliament agreed to change the name from Gold Coast to Ghana.
Show pride in the name Ghana by explaining what it means to be called a Ghanaian.
