Learning Objectives

Indicator: K1.5.1.1.6 - Create and perform dance movements and music inspired by Ghanaian history and other cultures

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Listen to a Ghanaian patriotic song and identify at least two words they hear from the lyrics.
  2. Move their bodies to the rhythm of a Ghanaian history song, following simple dance steps demonstrated by the teacher.
  3. Create their own simple dance movement to match a line or phrase from a patriotic song.
  4. Play an improvised musical instrument (shaker, drum, or clapper) in time with the beat of a song.
  5. Participate in a short class march-past, singing a patriotic song while moving in line with peers.

Learners listen to a music on Ghanaian history and dance to it (You can let them watch a video to) e.g. Hɛn ara asaase ni
Teach the keywords and discuss the lyrics of the song with the learners
Learners use improvised musical instrument to play their own music, accompanied by dance movements.
Learners should organize a Kiddies march past. Let them sing some patriotic songs and match on it while others play instruments. One child can post as the President of Ghana whiles others salute.
