Learning Objectives
Indicator: 3.1.3.LI.3 - Discuss the concept of sports injuries and how they manifest.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define sports injury in their own words and distinguish it from a general injury.
- Identify at least five common types of sports injuries (fracture, sprain, concussion, laceration, contusion) and describe how each one manifests.
- Explain at least three causes of sports injuries in physical activity and sporting contexts.
- Recognise the signs and symptoms associated with different sports injuries and match each injury type to its correct description.
- Demonstrate responsible decision making by suggesting appropriate immediate responses to a sports injury scenario.

Digital learning: In mixed ability and mixed gender group where appropriate, guide learners to explore the internet to explain sports injuries and identity types of sports injuries. In the same groupings, learners discuss the causes of sports injuries, signs and symptoms of such injuries. Assessment (3.1.3.AS.3): Level 1: Which symptom is most likely associated with broken bone? Level 2: Match the type of injury in group ''A'' with its correct description in group ''B'' GROUP A - Fracture - Sprain - Concussion - Laceration - Contusion GROUP B - A deep cut or tear in the skin or flesh - A brain injury caused by a blow to the head - A break in the bone. - A bruise caused by a direct blow or impact. - An injury to a ligament caused by stretching or tearing Teaching and Learning Resources: - Online resources - Pictures/charts - Phones/laptops - Projectors - Visual - Audio-visual aids. - Textbooks - Any other relevant materials - Any other equipment found in the community fit for purpose. - Learners explore the internet with their ICT tools (phones, laptops, etc.)
