Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.1.3.LI.1 - Explain the concepts of human diseases.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define the term “disease” in their own words and distinguish it from the general state of being unwell.
- Identify and describe at least four common human diseases, including their causes and key characteristics.
- Explain at least four effects of human diseases on an individual’s life, family and community.
- Describe four ways understanding human diseases can improve personal health and well-being.
- Demonstrate digital literacy and respectful collaboration by researching disease concepts using phones or laptops and sharing findings with peers.

Collaborative learning: In mixed ability, culture, gender and identities, learners engage in structured discussion and outline the types of diseases and the importance of understanding them. Assessment (2.1.3.AS.1): Level 2: Describe the characteristics of at least four human diseases. Level 2: Explain four effects of human diseases on life. Level 3: Describe four ways by which your understanding of human diseases can help improve your well-being.
