Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.1.1.LI.2 - Identify types of contraception and their impact on health and wellness.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

List at least six types of contraception and classify them as barrier, hormonal, intrauterine, permanent, or natural methods.
Explain how each type of contraception prevents pregnancy using simple and accurate descriptions.
Analyse the positive impacts of contraceptive use on health and wellness, including maternal health, family planning, and prevention of sexually transmitted infections.
Evaluate the potential side effects, risks, and limitations associated with different contraceptive methods.
Design a short educational presentation or brochure that advises peers on choosing appropriate contraception based on individual health needs and circumstances.
