Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.1.2.LI.4

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Demonstrate the correct and safe handling of at least three different hand tools in the workshop.
Demonstrate the correct and safe operation of at least one power tool under teacher supervision.
State and apply the key safety protocols (inspection, personal protective equipment, posture, and housekeeping) before, during, and after using any workshop tool.
Critique a peer’s tool-handling technique against a simple safety checklist and give constructive feedback.
Explain why following safety protocols for tools prevents the types and causes of accidents identified in previous lessons.

Indicator: 1.1.2.LI.4 - Demonstrate the use of both hand and power tools according to proper health and safety protocols.
Suggested placement: Semester 1, Week 9 (Week 9 of the year)

Experiential Learning: At the workshop, each learner should be guided to use various tools and machinery in line with health and safety protocols. Other learners observe and comment on how equipment has been handled.
