Indicator: B2.4.8.1.1

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Brainstorm at least five ideas about a given topic such as “Myself” before writing.
  2. Answer a series of leading questions about a topic to generate sentences for a paragraph.
  3. Arrange the sentences from leading questions into two coherent paragraphs on one idea.
  4. Write two short paragraphs of three to four sentences each on a given topic.
  5. Read aloud their completed paragraphs to a partner or group and check that the sentences are in a sensible order.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)

- Write selected topics on the board, e.g. "Myself".
- Teacher and learners brainstorm to generate ideas about the topic.
- Put learners in groups and ask leading questions to guide them develop the ideas generated into one or two paragraphs.
