Indicator: B7.3.1.6.1 - Use passive sentences for a range of functions

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Identify the subject, verb and object in active sentences and state which part becomes the subject in the passive form.
Reconstruct given active sentences into passive sentences, keeping the tense correct (e.g. “The class won the game” to “The game was won by the class”).
Use passive sentences to describe a process, such as how banku or gari is prepared.
Use passive sentences to report past actions where the doer is unknown, known, or unimportant.
Compose a short formal report (for example, a school or community event report) using at least three passive sentences appropriately.

  - describe processes.
  - talk/write about past actions (when we do not know who did them).
  - talk/write about past actions (when we know who did them).
  - write reports and other formal texts.
- Construct sentences in the active voice (subject, verb and object). E.g. The class won the game.
- Reconstruct active sentences into the passive voice.
  E.g. The game was won by the class.
