SHS3 Social Studies · Semester 2, Week 17
Globalisation
Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: 3.6.6.LI.1 - Explain globalisation and its relevance to national development
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define globalisation in their own words, giving at least two examples from everyday Ghanaian life.
- Explain at least three ways in which Ghana is connected to other nations through trade, technology, culture, or communication.
- Discuss at least two opportunities that globalisation creates for individuals and for nations, using concrete examples.
- Analyse how a specific global issue (for example, climate change, rising fuel prices, or digital connectivity) affects Ghana’s development.
- Demonstrate open-mindedness and respect for diverse perspectives during group discussions on the benefits and challenges of globalisation.
The lessons in Week 16 introduced learners to the broader concept of production and exchange in the Ghanaian economy. This lesson builds on that foundation by introducing globalisation as the international dimension of these activities. The focus here is on explaining the concept and its relevance. The detailed discussion of maximising benefits is scheduled for Week 18 and will not be covered in this lesson.
