Learning Objectives

Indicator: B4.1.9.1.1 - Give and respond to commands, instructions and directions

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify verbs used in commands, instructions and directions when they hear or read them.
  2. Give at least three simple commands correctly using the right tone of voice.
  3. Respond appropriately to commands and instructions given by the teacher and peers.
  4. Follow a sequence of two to three directions to move from one place to another within the school.
  5. Use polite words such as “please” when giving instructions in formal situations like addressing a visitor.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)

- Give general commands and guide learners to respond appropriately to the commands.
e. g. Stand up! Sit down! Carry the bowl! etc.
- Through role play, group and pair activities, assist learners to give and obey simple commands/instructions.
e.g. i. Go to your seat. ii. Bring your exercise book to me. iii. Walk from B1 classroom to the Headmaster's office iv. Turn right, walk twenty steps towards the water tank.
