Generation of Computers and Parts of a Computer and Other Gadgets

Learning Objectives

Indicator: B4.1.1.1.1 - Identify parts of a computer and technology tools (the mouse, keyboard, monitor, system unit and its components (memory, hard disk drive, CD-ROM etc.), speakers, and peripherals.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Name at least six main parts of a computer from a labelled diagram or real equipment.
  2. Match each computer part to its correct job, such as typing with the keyboard and pointing with the mouse.
  3. Identify the system unit and point out three components inside it, including memory, hard disk drive and CD-ROM, from pictures or actual parts.
  4. Classify a given list of items as either computer parts or peripheral devices.
  5. Label selected computer parts in their notebooks using words from a word bank.

  • strand name - printed p.2 and the table of contents head B4 strand 1 "WORD PROCESSING", which is a copy-paste error. Corrected to "INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTING" on four pieces of evidence: the scope-and-sequence names strand 1 "Introduction to computing"; B5 and B6 both print "STRAND 1: INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTING" over the same sub-strands; B4 own p.9 heads strand 3 "WORD PROCESSING"; and B4 strand 1 sub-strands are Generation of Computers, MS-Windows Interface, Data Sources and Usage, and Technology in the Community, none of which is word processing
