Learning Objectives
Indicator: K1.6.7.1.5
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Sort given objects (such as bottle tops, straws, sticks, stones, and leaves) into categories of their own choosing.
- Count the number of objects in each sorted category accurately up to 9.
- Match a cut-out number card (1 to 9) to a group of objects with the same count.
- Talk about their sorting and counting results using simple sentences, for example, “I have 5 sticks” or “This group has 3 stones.”
- Work together with a partner to sort and count classroom objects, taking turns and sharing materials.

Read a concept book (if you do not have numbers concept book, create one) on numbers (1-9) to learners. Let learners talk about the numbers heard in the reading and show their respective cut out number. Give learners variety of objects (bottle tops, straws, sticks) ask learners to pick cut out number and count e.g. straws that matches with the particular number on the card.
