Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.4.3.LI.1 - Create a stanza of a poem using a simple template as a guide.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify the structural features of a simple stanza template, including line count, syllable pattern and rhyme scheme.
- Use a provided template to draft an original four-line stanza on a chosen topic.
- Apply at least two poetic devices (such as simile, personification or repetition) within the drafted stanza.
- Read aloud their completed stanza with attention to rhythm and phrasing.
- Give and receive respectful feedback on classmates’ stanzas, using language that avoids hurting others.
