Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.2.3.LI.2 - Produce narrative pieces applying different styles
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify at least three distinct narrative styles (first-person, epistolary, and oral-traditional) from passages of selected African and non-African prose texts.
- Explain how an author’s choice of style affects the reader’s experience of a story, using specific examples from texts studied.
- Adapt a short passage from one narrative style into another, preserving the plot while changing the voice and tone.
- Produce an original narrative piece of 250 to 350 words applying one chosen style consistently, with a clear setting, character and conflict.
- Work collaboratively in groups to develop a synopsis that indicates which narrative style will guide their planned story and justify that choice.
