Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.2.3.LI.3 - Dramatise portions of narrative texts such as subplots

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  • Identify subplots within a given narrative text and justify why each qualifies as a subplot.
  • Select a portion of a narrative text suitable for dramatisation based on its dramatic potential.
  • Assign characters from the chosen portion to group members, matching each learner’s comfort and strengths.
  • Rehearse and perform a short dramatised scene that faithfully conveys the subplot’s key events and dialogue.
  • Reflect on their own and peers’ performances, giving and receiving constructive feedback.

Collaborative Learning:

- Learners in groups read and choose portions of narrative texts to be dramatised. This will develop independent thinkers who show initiative and are ready to take actions.

- They share the characters, rehearse and perform. Introverts must be encouraged to choose characters they are comfortable with or rehearse along with others to build confidence that will enable them develop their abilities, gifts and talents to play meaningful roles in society.

- Have learners organise and direct with some supervision to develop critical thinking, creativity and innovation and leadership skills.
