Learning Objectives

Indicator: B6.2.9.1.2

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Read aloud a grade-level passage with appropriate expression, varying pitch, pace, and volume to match the author’s purpose.
  2. Identify the author’s purpose (to inform, persuade, entertain, or express) in a given text and explain how expression should reflect that purpose.
  3. Use punctuation marks (full stops, commas, question marks, exclamation marks, quotation marks) as cues for expressive reading.
  4. Self-correct misread words and re-read sentences to confirm comprehension and improve fluency.
  5. Role-play a short dialogue or narration, demonstrating expression that matches the speaker’s feelings and the author’s intention.
