By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Read a grade-level passage aloud at a steady pace without stopping to sound out every word.
- Read grade-level words with accuracy, correctly pronouncing at least 9 out of 10 words in a short passage.
- Use appropriate expression when reading, such as changing voice for questions, exclamations and full stops.
- Identify punctuation marks that signal changes in pace and expression while reading.
- Take turns to read aloud in small groups while listening to peers and offering helpful feedback.
