Learning Objectives

Indicator: B9.3.5.1.2

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Demonstrate at least three different edge finishing techniques (lacing, facing, and scalloping) on fabric samples.
  2. Explain the purpose and appropriate use of each edge finishing technique for different types of articles.
  3. Produce a finished edge specimen that meets quality criteria such as evenness, neatness, and durability.
  4. Evaluate their own and peers’ finished specimens against a set of appraisal criteria and suggest improvements.
  5. Select the most suitable edge finishing method for a given sewing project based on fabric type and article purpose.
