Learning Objectives
Indicator: 1.6.4.LI.3 - Examine ways of ensuring sustainable use of public finances
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define public finances and identify at least three sources of public funds in Ghana (e.g., taxes, royalties, grants).
- Explain what constitutes sustainable use of public finances, giving two examples of sustainable practices and two examples of unsustainable practices.
- Analyse a given case study of public financial mismanagement and propose at least two practical measures to prevent such occurrences.
- Evaluate the consequences of poor management of public finances on the ordinary Ghanaian citizen and the nation as a whole.
- Recommend at least three accountability mechanisms citizens can use to ensure public funds are used sustainably.
