Learning Objectives
Indicator: K1.2.3.1.6 - Create special birthday cards for loved ones using different writing and drawing tools.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify a birthday card and explain that it is a special message for someone on their birthday.
- Design a birthday card for a family member using two or more writing or drawing tools (crayons, pencils, markers, chalk).
- Draw at least one simple picture (such as a cake, balloon, or flower) on their birthday card.
- Sort completed birthday cards into sets according to the family member they were made for (parents, siblings, grandparents).
- Present their card to the class and name the family member it is for.

Provide special cards with different colours and allow learners to use any writing tool to design different birthday cards for their family members. Have learners classify into sets the designed birthday cards according family members they designed for e.g. parents, siblings, grandparents, etc.
