Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: B9.2.1.1.4 - Show mastery of appropriate speech act and diction in communicating about food and health.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Use appropriate expressions to invite someone to a restaurant and ask about available food items.
- Engage in a short dialogue about going out for dinner, using expressions such as “مرحبا بك” (welcome) and “ماذا عندكم من الأطعمة؟” (what foods do you have?).
- Describe common food preparation methods (grilled, fried, boiled) using the correct Arabic vocabulary.
- Express health concerns related to food using phrases such as “أشعر بآلام شديدة في المعدة” (I feel severe stomach pain) and “أنا متعب جدا” (I am very tired).
- Give simple advice about healthy eating habits, including washing hands before and after eating, and maintaining a balanced diet.
This lesson builds on the formal and informal register distinction from Term 1, Week 11 and opens the new topic of food and health communication. The conversational strategies of questioning (B9.2.1.2.1) will be introduced lightly in the restaurant dialogue but explored fully in the next lesson.
