Learning Objectives
Indicator: B9.2.1.2.3 - Demonstrate awareness of verbal and non-verbal communications to communicate effectively and accurately.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify and name at least five types of nonverbal communication in Arabic (gestures, facial expressions, tone of voice, eye contact, body language, posture).
- Match each Arabic term for nonverbal communication to its correct English meaning and a concrete example.
- Demonstrate awareness of how nonverbal signals (gestures, facial expressions, and tone) support or contradict verbal messages in a short debate setting.
- Use appropriate Arabic phrases to comment on someone’s nonverbal behaviour during a discussion, such as لِماذا تَرْفَعُ صَوْتَكَ؟ (Why do you raise your voice?) or اُنْظُرْ إِلَيَّ عِنْدَمَا تَتَحَدَّثُ (Look at me when you speak).
- Apply awareness of nonverbal communication to deliver a short persuasive statement about education or career choices, using appropriate eye contact, posture, and tone.
