Learning Objectives

Indicator: B9.2.1.3.3 Show the ability to predict the closest meanings of some unfamiliar words in a text about ICT and its use as a learning tool.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  • Identify familiar Arabic words within or near unfamiliar ICT-related words to use as clues for meaning.
  • Predict the closest meaning of at least 5 unfamiliar words from a short Arabic passage about ICT in learning.
  • Use sentence context to check whether a predicted meaning makes sense in the passage.
  • Verify predicted meanings by confirming them in an Arabic-English dictionary or glossary.
  • Explain aloud, in simple Arabic, how they arrived at the meaning of one unfamiliar word, using the strategies practised in class.
