Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.1.3.LI.3 - Determine whether or not a conduct violates a code of ethics.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Identify the key provisions commonly found in professional codes of ethics for engineering bodies.
Analyse a given scenario of professional conduct and determine whether it violates a specific clause of a code of ethics.
Justify their determination by citing the specific ethical principle or rule that is breached or upheld.
Present a personal or observed conduct scenario for class review and defend their assessment of its ethical status.
Distinguish between conduct that clearly violates a code, conduct that is borderline, and conduct that is ethically acceptable but professionally unwise.
