Learning Objectives
Indicator: 3.2.1.LI.1 - Discuss the key environmental laws and policies in Ghana
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify at least five key environmental laws and policies in Ghana, including the Environmental Protection Act, 1994 (Act 490), the Environmental Sanitation Policy, and the Climate Change Policy.
- Explain the core objectives of the Environmental Protection Agency Act, 1994 (Act 490) in their own words.
- Categorise Ghana’s environmental laws and policies into their main areas of focus, such as sanitation, climate change, mining, wildlife, and water resources.
- Discuss in small groups the key environmental issues that a selected law or policy seeks to address.
- Justify why environmental protection laws are essential for individuals, communities, and the nation as a whole.
