Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.2.1.LI.3 - Outline the challenges environmental regulatory bodies face in enforcing environmental laws and policies and suggest ways of addressing the challenges

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

State at least four major challenges that environmental regulatory bodies in Ghana face when enforcing environmental laws and policies.
Explain how each identified challenge undermines the effectiveness of regulatory bodies such as the EPA, Minerals Commission, and Forestry Commission.
Analyse a given case study of environmental law enforcement in Ghana and identify the specific challenges involved.
Propose practical and realistic solutions to at least three of the challenges discussed, justifying why each solution would work in the Ghanaian context.
Work collaboratively in groups to present a brief sensitisation plan for their community on environmental laws, incorporating the challenges and solutions discussed.
