Learning Objectives

Indicator: B8.1.3.1.3 - Produce consonant sounds (nasals and affricates) in context

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify the nasal consonant sounds /m/, /n/ and /ŋ/ in spoken words and distinguish them from one another.
  2. Identify the affricate consonant sounds /ʧ/ and /ʤ/ in spoken words and distinguish them from one another.
  3. Produce nasal and affricate sounds correctly in single words, phrases and sentences during oral reading and speaking activities.
  4. Use words containing nasal and affricate sounds in connected speech, such as in a short talk or dialogue, with accurate pronunciation.
  5. Self-correct their pronunciation of nasal and affricate sounds when a peer or the teacher points out an error.
