Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.2.1.LI.5 - Explain the various machining processes and relate them to manufacturing industry

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Define machining and identify at least five major machining processes used in manufacturing.
Explain how turning, drilling, milling, shaping, and grinding work, including the type of cutting tool and machine used for each.
Match each machining process to its typical product or industrial application in Ghana’s manufacturing sector.
Compare machining processes in terms of accuracy, surface finish, and suitable materials.
Justify the choice of a particular machining process for a given manufacturing task, giving reasons based on the shape of the workpiece and required finish.
