SHS3 Engineering · Semester 2, Week 9

Energy Efficiency and Conservation

Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.2.3.LI.4 - Design and construct energy management systems solutions for lighting and consumer appliances.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify at least three energy management system solutions applicable to lighting and consumer appliances in their school or home.
  2. Design a simple energy management system for a specified lighting or consumer appliance, showing the components and their connections.
  3. Construct a working prototype of an energy management device using available electrical and electronic components.
  4. Test and evaluate the performance of their constructed device against set energy-saving criteria.
  5. Present and defend their group project to the class, explaining how their design conserves energy.
