Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.1.2.LI.1 - Appraise emerging technologies in arable crop (cereals, legumes, and tuber crops) production.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Define emerging technology in agriculture and list at least five emerging technologies used in arable crop production in Ghana.
Describe the key features of selected emerging technologies, including drones, precision agriculture, greenhouse technology, tissue culture, and GMOs.
Explain the benefits and potential challenges of adopting emerging technologies for cereals, legumes, and tuber crops.
Appraise (weigh the value of) at least two emerging technologies by considering their feasibility and impact on Ghanaian farmers.
Discuss, in mixed-gender pairs, how emerging technologies could be applied in their own community and identify which ones are already in use nearby.
