Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.5.2.LI.9 - Solve problems on Binary operations

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Explain what binary numbers are and identify the base of the binary number system.
  2. Convert decimal numbers (base 10) to binary numbers (base 2) using the division by 2 method.
  3. Convert binary numbers to decimal numbers using the place value method with powers of 2.
  4. Convert binary numbers to hexadecimal (base 16) and hexadecimal numbers back to binary using the grouping method.
  5. Solve word problems involving binary operations in real-life digital electronic contexts.
