SHS2 Applied Technology · Semester 2, Week 13
Electrical Systems Design
Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.5.1.LI.12 - Apply the knowledge of house wiring in practical situations.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Plan a complete house wiring layout for a small room or structure, identifying the correct sequence of supply-control equipment as learned in Week 9.
- Select and justify the appropriate wiring method (surface, conduit, or trunking) for a given practical situation based on cost, safety, and aesthetics.
- Carry out a wiring process on a practice board or structure, following IEE regulations on final circuits as covered in Week 11.
- Test a completed wiring installation using a multimeter and megger, interpreting the readings to confirm continuity and insulation integrity.
- Evaluate their own and peers’ work against a checklist of wiring standards, giving constructive feedback and correcting identified faults.
