Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.2.1.LI.2 - Organise and produce selected arable crop (cereals, legumes, and tuber crops).

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Outline the step-by-step sequence for producing a selected arable crop, from land preparation to harvesting readiness, based on the crop’s specific requirements.
  2. Organise a production plan for one selected arable crop (cereal, legume, or tuber) showing inputs, tools, labour, and timing of operations.
  3. Demonstrate correct planting procedures for a selected arable crop, including spacing, depth, and seed rate, using boxes, cans, or available land.
  4. Carry out routine crop management practices (watering, weeding, thinning, and pest inspection) on a planted crop and record observations in a pocket notebook.
  5. Work collaboratively in mixed-ability and gender-balanced groups to allocate roles, share responsibilities, and complete crop production tasks on schedule.
