By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define lumbering and mining and identify at least four timber species and four minerals extracted in Ghana.
- Explain at least three factors that influence the location and practice of lumbering in Ghana.
- Describe the main methods of lumbering extraction (selective, clear, and shelterwood systems) and the methods of mining (surface, underground/ deep, and alluvial/ placer methods).
- Assess the economic, social and environmental importance of lumbering and mining to Ghana’s development.
- Analyse the major problems facing the lumbering and mining sectors in Ghana and propose practical solutions to address them.
