By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Define lumbering and mining and identify at least four timber species and four minerals extracted in Ghana.
Explain at least three factors that influence the location and practice of lumbering in Ghana.
Describe the main methods of lumbering extraction (selective, clear, and shelterwood systems) and the methods of mining (surface, underground/ deep, and alluvial/ placer methods).
Assess the economic, social and environmental importance of lumbering and mining to Ghana’s development.
Analyse the major problems facing the lumbering and mining sectors in Ghana and propose practical solutions to address them.
