SHS1 Physics · Semester 1, Week 13

Dynamics

Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.1.4.LI.3 - State Pascal’s principle.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. State Pascal’s principle in their own words, correctly identifying that pressure applied to an enclosed fluid is transmitted equally in all directions.
  2. Explain how Pascal’s principle applies to the hydraulic press and vehicle brake systems introduced in Week 12.
  3. Describe everyday situations in Ghana where Pascal’s principle is at work, such as hydraulic lifting equipment and braking systems.
  4. Work collaboratively in mixed-ability groups to demonstrate Pascal’s principle using a simple syringe-and-water model.
  5. Appreciate that scientific principles like Pascal’s were discovered by people from diverse backgrounds, and that physics skills are valuable for all genders and abilities.
