Drawing, Shading, Colouring and Modelling for Design

Learning Objectives

Indicator: B7.1.2.1.2 - Demonstrate skills in using available digital tools, materials and techniques for freehand and outline drawing, shading and colouring to create designs from lines, simple shapes and forms.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify at least four digital tools available in their environment (such as drawing apps on tablets or phones, computer paint software, or online drawing platforms) and state one suitable use for each in drawing or colouring.
  2. Demonstrate the use of a chosen digital tool to produce a freehand outline drawing of a simple shape or object.
  3. Apply at least two digital shading techniques (such as opacity adjustment, gradient fill, or layering) to add depth to a digital drawing.
  4. Use digital colouring tools to complete a design made from lines and simple shapes, and save or export the finished work.
  5. Present their completed digital design to the class, explaining the tools and techniques they used, and give constructive feedback on a peer’s work.
