Learning Objectives

Indicator: B6.2.3.5.3

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Select and justify the types and number of performing artworks to include in a display event, based on a chosen topical issue, the time available, and the expected audience.
  2. Assign individual and group tasks (such as master of ceremony, ushering, introducing special guests) for the staging of a performing arts display and explain how these roles support a successful event.
  3. Arrange the sequence of performances in a logical order that tells the story of the event from beginning to end, following the programme format of opening, performances, and closing.
  4. Stage and present a short performing arts display that communicates, educates, or sensitises an audience about a current topical issue in the world.
  5. Record comments and suggestions from audience members using a simple template, and use these notes to reflect on the success of the event.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)

Learners are to:
- decide on the types and number of compositions to be performed during the event to communicate, educate and sensitise the public on the advantages and disadvantages of current topical issues of much concern in the world based on the selected theme, time available and the expected audience;
- assign individual and group tasks and responsibilities and ensure they are carried out successfully (e.g. master of ceremony, ushering and introduction of special guests and other dignitaries to the show for explaining the concepts/title of the compositions, performances and the theme for the event, recording of comments and suggestions);
- arrange the sequence of performances to best tell the story of the event from the beginning to the end;
- follow the programme of the day: opening, performances and closing.
NOTE
- prepare template for appreciating, appraising, evaluating and reporting, etc.;
- clean the hall after the performance.
