Learning Objectives
Indicator: B3.2.3.5.3 - Perform own music, dance and drama to share creative experiences based on ideas that reflect topical issues in other African communities.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify at least three topical issues affecting communities in other African countries (for example, deforestation, girls’ education, clean water) through discussion of short performance clips or teacher-led stories.
- Create a short original performance (music, dance, or drama) in a group that communicates one chosen topical issue from another African community.
- Perform their composition before the class, using voice, movement, and simple props to inform and educate the audience on the chosen issue.
- Explain, in one or two sentences before or after performing, what issue their performance addresses and why it matters to the community it represents.
- Give one piece of constructive feedback to another group about how clearly their performance communicated its message.

Learners are to: - role-play performances in music, dance and drama to inform and educate; - perform own music, dance and drama compositions to share ideas, educate and inform the audience on topical issues of the people in other African communities. Suggested Process/Steps - decide on the types and number of performances to display during the event based on the theme, time available and the expected audience (e.g. performances best tell the story or theme of the event); - assign individual and group tasks as well as responsibilities and ensure they are carried out successfully (e.g. master of ceremony, ushering and introduction of special guests and other dignitaries to the show for explaining the concepts/title of the compositions, performances and the theme for the event); - Sequencing of performances to best tell the story of the event from the beginning to the climax; - following the programme of the day: opening, performances and closing; - cleaning, appreciation, appraisal, evaluation, reporting, etc. Note: display/perform own music, dance and drama to educate inform and entertain the public
