Learning Objectives
Indicator: 1.3.1.LI.3 - Explore the significance of the various diagnostic devices used for medical intervention.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Explain at least three reasons why diagnostic devices are important in modern medical practice, using specific examples of devices.
- Categorise common diagnostic devices according to their purpose (imaging, laboratory testing, monitoring, or point-of-care testing).
- Describe how a specific diagnostic device influences treatment decisions for a named disease or condition.
- Discuss the limitations and troubleshooting needs of selected diagnostic devices and explain why regular maintenance and calibration matter.
- Justify the choice of a particular diagnostic device for a given patient scenario, using appropriate reasoning.
