Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.2.2.LI.2 - Describe los estados de ánimo

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Recall and state at least eight Spanish adjectives for moods and feelings (e.g., feliz, triste, cansado/a, enojado/a) when shown an emoji or picture.
  2. Use the verb “estar” correctly with first, second, and third person subjects to say how they and others feel (e.g., “Yo estoy feliz”, “¿Cómo estás?”).
  3. Ask “¿Cómo estás?” and “¿Cómo está?” appropriately and respond with a complete sentence describing their state of mind.
  4. Describe the mood of a family member in a short written sentence, matching adjective gender to the person described.
  5. Identify the difference between temporary states (estar + adjective) and permanent descriptions (ser + adjective) at a basic recall level.
