Data, Sources and Usage

Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: B5.1.3.1.10 - Analyse tables, maps, diagrams, photographs and charts, and generalize the results and make suggestions (e.g. Finding sum or grand total).

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Read and interpret data presented in tables, charts, diagrams, photographs and maps.
  2. Calculate the sum (grand total), difference, average and mean of data sets from visual sources.
  3. Generalize results from analysed data by stating at least one clear finding.
  4. Make at least one practical suggestion based on the generalized results.
  5. Present findings and suggestions clearly to peers using simple oral or written reports.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)

Task learners to calculate the average, mean, sum and difference between data collected in an earlier class. NB: This is to help the learner with fundamental principle of problem solving skills and creativity in computing and computer science.
